Hans De Reike

A Hans De Reike orthosis is a bilateral hip orthosis. It is designed to hold both hips in an improved position. Typically it is comprised of a pelvic section or pelvic band to which thigh sections are connected to the pelvic section via hip joints and struts. The joints generally can be locked with the hips extended and also with them flexed at around 90.

They are most commonly used with children who have a tendency to hip contractures where the presence of the struts and joints permits control of abduction and adduction as in C.P. They can also be used for "floppy" children where the orthosis can help to maintain a seating position.

This HDR is designed to assist seated posture and prevent/reduce hip deformity or dislocation.
