IDS ::: Shoulder Braces

A variety of off the shelf braces are available, mainly for shoulder subuxation. There are also avery small number of custom made devices.

Flail arm splints
These are complex devices often used following brachial plexus lesions. Because of the complexity of movement and control of the normal upper limb a flail arm splint can only provide a small amount of function.

Full assessment of the patient’s condition and expectations is therefore critical. These devices are normally supplied and fitted by specially trained orthotists. They can be made from adjustable ‘kits’ or fully custom made.
