Prosthetic practice and procedures
The specific role of the prosthetist may vary between different prosthetic rehabilitation centres. While he or she will normally be working as part of the multi disciplinary team, the responsibilities within the team may differ. For example the prosthetist may be given a detailed prescription for the amputees’ prosthesis or this may be specified by the prosthetist.

The following is a general overview of the procedures which would normally apply when an amputee is provided with a prosthesis. Obviously there will be variations between upper and lower extremity but they are broadly similar.
