IDS ::: Prosthetics ::: Procedures - Fitting
Fitting and delivery.
At the fitting stage, the prosthetist ensures that the socket fits correctly. The lengths and alignment are checked and adjusted as required. At the delivery stage, all the manufacture will have been finished. The prosthetist ensures that the amputee understands how the prosthesis functions and that he or she is satisfied by the cosmetic finish.
N.B. primary (new) amputees will probably transfer into the care of physiotherapists or occupational therapists at the fitting or delivery stage.
