The process
Normally the process begins with a plaster of paris cast being taken, as is the case for most prostheses. However because most silicone prostheses are intended to give a very cosmetic result much attention needs to be given to matching the amputees skin and centra-lateral limb where applicable. A sophisticated colour matching kit with a digital camera is used. Silicone prostheses are usually manufactured by applying rolled silicone over the rectified cast of the residucism.
